Eaton School

Welcome to the website dedicated to fighting for the future of Eaton and other year-round schools.  Our purpose is to provide the facts, communicate what is happening, and provide a forum for parents to voice their concerns.

There is a well organized neighborhood group that is upset over the proposed redistricting plans that would move them from Odgen to Murrayville.   They originally came up with a ridiculous proposal, complete with maps, that calls for the “traditionalizing” of Eaton. They presented this plan at the redistricting forum at Codington on September 23rd.

However, at the Oct 6 redistricting meeting, the group appeared to back off their original suggestion, due in part no doubt based on the outpouring of support from Eaton and Codington parents.  It does appear the board is highly in favor of the year round schools.  The Marsh Oaks group came up with alternative suggestions, including:

• Expanding Eaton to allow more kids to go there
• Moving the Eaton kids to Murrayville and switch the year round status of Eaton and Murrayville
• Finishing the section of road so that a cut through from Bayshore to Quail Woods is available so that Murraryville becomes a neighborhood school for Marsh Oaks

These are starting to sound like reasonable options.

The next redistricting forum is Oct 21st.  All Public Redistricting Forums begin at 6:30 p.m. and will be held in the Multipurpose Room of each school.
